On a Windows 2000 or XP machine, you can determine if the Windows Internet Information Server (IIS) components for the Virtual SMTP and web server is installed by using the Add/Remove Program wizard from the Control Panel.

Double-click the icon and when the Add
or Remove Programs window appears with the list of installed software,
press the
button
on the left. You
will then be presented with the following screen showing the Windows
Components Wizard.

Select the line for Internet Information Services (IIS) and press
button to show the Internet Information
Services (IIS)window with a selectable list of its subcomponents.

At this point, scroll through the list of subcomponents. If all needed components have been installed you should see checked the lines with
Internet Information Services Snap-in
SMTP Service
World Wide Web Service
If any of these components do not have their checkbox is not checked,
then check
the box(es) and press n the Windows Component
Wizard press
to proceed with installing these
missing IIS components.
Configure the SMTP Server with your local domains
